Leverty & Associates Law Chtd. was established in 1979 by its principal Vernon E. ("Gene") Leverty. The firm has over 30 years of active involvement and knowledge of Nevada's insurance laws, regulations and insurance practices, as well as federal laws and regulations.
Leverty & Associates practices in the area of insurance law, emphasizing insurance prosecution, defense, and regulatory matters. The firm represents insurance companies, administrators, agents and brokers, employers engaged in providing health and pension benefits to employees, as well as consumers/policyholders having problems with an insurance company not represented by the firm.
Having the knowledge of how insurance companies should operate, including regulatory compliance, and applicable federal laws such as ERISA and COBRA; insurance industry standards; claims handling; agency operations; underwriting; and computer systems, enables the firm to provide well-rounded and objective legal advice dealing with all aspects of insurance, including, but not limited to the following:
- Representation of consumers/policyholders in asserting their rights against insurance companies. Such representation includes insurance bad faith and violations of Nevada's Unfair Claims Practices.
- Formation of insurance companies, including captive and risk retention groups.
- Representation of insurance producers, administrators, and insurance companies in matters concerning regulatory law and compliance, as well as defense in highly specialized insurance actions.
- Insurance Class-Actions. Leverty & Asssociates has certified a national class action providing benefits to class members throughout the 50 states. Few, if any, Nevada law firms have this unique experience of certifying a nationwide class action.
